The present study was conducted on characterization of morpho‐anatomical, phytochemical, and bio‐elemental analysis of root, stem, and leaf of Verbascum thapsus. Morphologically Verbascum is a biennial plant that flowers for a month and a half in mid‐ to late summer. Various organoleptic features of root, leaf, and stem were recorded. Anatomically the T. S of the root, stem, and leaf showed a typical dicot histological differentiation. Leaf possessed anomocytic stomata, crescent shape vascular bundles, and covered with long and stellate type trichomes while, stem contained collateral type of vascular bundles and a well‐developed pith to store phytochemicals responsible for various pharmacological activities. The powder drug study through scanning electron microscopy revealed the presence of various types of tissues. Branched, tree like and stellate trichomes in root and leaf help in absorption and reduce loss of water. These anatomical features are responsible for the survival of the plant as biennial. Four macro elements (Na, K, Ca, and Mg) and seven microelements (Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Zn, and Cd) and their concentrations in ppm were also studied using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy. Phytochemical screening of methanolic extract showed existence of various secondary metabolites, while mucilage and anthraquinones was not detected. The present study helps to understand the taxonomic identification of the plant based on morpho‐anatomical features and throws the attention of the researchers to carry out the work for developing its various formulations, which can ultimately be beneficial for the human beings as well as animals. 相似文献

The rapid increase of renewable energy sources made coordinated control of the distributed and intermittent generation units a more demanded task. Matching demand and supply is particularly challenging in islanded microgrids. In this study, we have demonstrated a mixed‐integer quadratic programming (MIQP) method to achieve efficient use of sources within an islanded microgrid. A unique objective function involving fuel consumption of diesel generator, degradation in a lithium‐ion battery energy storage system, carbon emissions, load shifting, and curtailment of the renewable sources is constructed, and an optimal operating point is pursued using the MIQP approach. A systematic and extensive methodology for building the objective function is given in a sequential and explicit manner with an emphasis on a novel model‐based battery aging formulation. Performance of the designed system and a sensitivity analysis of resulting battery dispatch, diesel generator usage, and storage aging against a range of optimization parameters are presented by considering real‐world specifications of the Semakau Island, an island in the vicinity of Singapore. 相似文献

The impact of dual fuel (diesel/hydrogen) on different performance aspects of CRDI diesel engines is investigated in this study. Amongst the fuel alternatives for IC (internal combustion) engines, the research described in this study recommended hydrogen as the least polluting and renewable in the long term. A CNG-LPG injector feeds hydrogen into the intake manifold, while diesel injectors pump pilot diesel to a DI engine adapted to hydrogen and diesel (dual-fuel mode). By maintaining 5.2 KW of consistent IP (Indicated Power) and engine speed at 1500 ± 10 rotations per minute (RPM), the hydrogen energy was varied in the dual fuel at 0% (100% diesel), 6%, 12%, 18% and 24%. With the increase in H2 energy proportion, a decrease (5.2% decrease at 24% HES) in the BSEC (brake specific energy consumption) and the engine's BTE (brake thermal efficiency) is improved (7.85% increase at 24% HES). When emissions are considered, indicated NOx increased (3.42%) while indicated CO2 (3.61%), CO (2.84%), and smoke (4.85%) decreased with an increase in the proportion of hydrogen. Along with this, it was noted that the peak HRR (heat release rate) of 69.8 J/deg and in-cylinder pressure of 80.8 bar which increased significantly with the increase in hydrogen rate. 相似文献

Exposure to radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer worldwide behind smoking. Changing the energy characteristics of a dwelling can influence both its thermal and ventilative properties, which can affect indoor air quality. This study uses radon measurements made in 470 689 UK homes between 1980 and 2015, linked to dwelling information contained within the Home Energy Efficiency Database (HEED). The linked dataset, the largest of its kind, was used to analyze the association of housing and energy performance characteristics with indoor radon concentrations in the UK. The findings show that energy efficiency measures that increase the airtightness of properties are observed to have an adverse association with indoor radon levels. Homes with double glazing installed had radon measurements with a significantly higher geometric mean, 67% (95% CI: 44, 89) greater than those without a recorded fabric retrofit. Those with loft insulation (47%, 95% CI: 26, 69) and wall insulation (32%, 95% CI: 11, 53) were also found to have higher radon readings. Improving the energy performance of the UK's housing stock is vital in meeting carbon emission reduction targets. However, compromising indoor air quality must be avoided through careful assessment and implementation practices. 相似文献

This paper presents a field study of constructing retaining walls using soilbags that are formed by filling the excavated clayey soils into woven bags (geosynthetics). The strength and deformation of the soilbags filled with clayey soils were studied via laboratory tests. A 100?m testing retaining wall was constructed with soilbags in a waterway project. The lateral deformation, the lateral pressures and the surface settlements of the testing retaining wall were monitored during construction and after 7 months operation. The results show that the soilbags can increase the strength of clayey soils. After 7 months of the completion, the lateral deformation and the surface settlement of the testing retaining wall tend to be stable with the maximum values of 29.4?cm and 19.2?cm, respectively. The lateral earth pressure on the front retaining structure could be positively reduced owing to the interlayer's friction of soilbags. Compared to the conventional gravity concrete retaining wall, about 38% construction cost was saved in the 100?m testing retaining wall. 相似文献

Tocotrienols are members of the vitamin E family that provide many nutritional benefits. Developing tocotrienol-fortified functional foods introduces vitamin E into consumers diets without changing their food habits. The purpose of this study was to compare the stability of tocotrienols in bulk form and six food matrices at a fixed dose (40 mg kg−1) under accelerated and conventional storage conditions. The delta- and gamma-tocotrienol content was measured using HPLC, and the sensory attributes were evaluated using triangle and hedonic tests. Tocotrienol in bulk powder was less stable under stressed conditions than in bulk oil, with the powders having approximately 40% and 80% reduction in δ- and γ- after storage and bulk oil with no significant degradation. HPLC analysis demonstrated that tocotrienol content remained unchanged in dry mix lemonade, yogurt, raw and UHT milk, and margarine over time; however, complete degradation of γ- and partial degradation (up to 50%) of δ-tocotrienol was observed in bread during ambient and stressed storage conditions. A significant decrease in the δ-tocotrienol relative concentration was also observed in HTST processed milk samples. A lightweight type 4 vessel with a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) liner is analyzed. The derived heat transfer coefficients between the gas and wall are applied, and a parametric study is performed. An optimized charging strategy is also developed. Firstly, when the injected hydrogen temperature decreases, the charging time increases, and the charged gas temperature decreases. Secondly, the higher the ambient temperature, the shorter the charging time, and the higher the charged gas temperature. Thirdly, the larger the mass flow rate, the shorter the charging time, and the higher charged gas temperature. Fourthly, as the initial pressure inside the vessel increases, the charging time shortens, and the charged gas temperature decreases. Fifthly, using the formulated charging strategy, during summer, the charged gas temperature decreases by approximately 9 °C. In winter, the charging time is reduced by approximately 58 s. The maritime industry has entered its pathway of decarbonization. To achieve the IMO's ambitious goals of an absolute emissions reduction of 50% by 2050, and a 70% carbon intensity reduction by 2050 compared to the 2008 level, various options for the adoption of technologies and alternative fuels are considered by the market stakeholders.Ammonia, one of the most promising alternative marine fuels has long been considered to reduce carbon emissions. And solid oxide fuel cell is expected to transform ship propulsion technology in the future due to its high utilization of fuels. In this paper, a feasibility study is performed to assess the application of an ammonia cracker-integrated solid oxide fuel cell (hereafter as Ammonia SOFC) system on an ocean-going vessel through a detailed CAPEX, FuelEX, OPEX, Carbon tax, and carbon emission analysis. Comparison is made with direct ammonia, LNG and conventional fuels fired heat engines.
